‹privé› Klerks
‹privé› Klerks was the eldest son of Johannes ('Jan') Klerks and Henriëtte Hubertine ('Dina') Persoon, and grew up in Drunen as the eldest of eight children.
A life of his own
In 1969 he married ‹privé›; together they had their son ‹privé›. ‹privé› settled in Rijen and travelled abroad regularly for his work, including to England.
The chronicler
His great passion was history: he researched the past of Gilze-Rijen and wrote a series of books about it. With great patience and precision he also built up this family archive, with particular attention to his mother's Persoon family. In 1986 and 1988 he wrote to relatives in the United States (Anneke and ‹privé›) to map out the family of his grandparents that had fallen apart in 1913. ‹privé› died on 17 July 2025; the archive he left behind is a lasting tribute to his research.

Notes
Compiler of this genealogy ('Research by: ‹privé› Klerks, Rijen'); according to the introduction he owned copies of the original certificates. He also collected old banknotes and wartime documents; several of these — among them a 1923 German inflation note, a silver certificate and various WW2 ration coupons and leaflets — are included as documents in this archive.
