Arnoldus Klerks
Arnoldus Klerks was born on 9 July 1843 in Drunen, the son of Godefridus Klerks and Wilhelmina van Venrooy. He became a farmer and married on 28 April 1870, almost 27 years old, to Gijsberdina van Son, who until then had worked as a maidservant. Together they raised a large family of thirteen children in Drunen. It was a hard existence: several children died very young, sometimes only days or months old. The children who did grow up — among them Leonardus (1878), who continued this branch — built families of their own in and around Drunen. Arnoldus lived and worked in Drunen his whole life and died there in 1925, well over eighty years old.
