Petrus Leonardis Persoon
Petrus Leonardis Persoon was born on 26 September 1816 in Weert. By trade he was a bleacher's assistant. On 6 February 1850 he married Gezina Maria Knippenberg. At that marriage they jointly acknowledged their little son Cornelis — born shortly before — as their lawful child. The family lived in Bennebroek, where two more children were born: Hendrik, and a third child who died in October 1850 on the day of its birth. Their family life was short: Petrus died in Bennebroek on 20 June 1851, less than a year and a half after his wedding. He left Gezina a young widow with two small boys; she later remarried the Haarlem linen bleacher Hendricus Vasen.
