Heinrich Peter Persoon and Miep Hurkens married on 7 August 1935 in Amsterdam; their marriage was dissolved by the Amsterdam court in June 1944. After the war both emigrated to Australia, but to different states. Maria died in 1960 in Melbourne (Victoria) and was buried at Fawkner Memorial Park. Henk lived on under the name Harry Peter Peerson in the north of Sydney (New South Wales), where he died in late July 1963 and was buried at Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery; his death in Sydney is confirmed by the Australian death index and archival sources. Their son Heinrich Cornelis Leonardus ('Hans') grew up in Australia under the name Peerson, married in Geelong in 1959 and died in Sydney in 2003.
