Heinrich Leonardus Cornelis Persoon
Heinrich Leonardus Cornelis Persoon — called 'Leo' after his second baptismal name — was born on 12 August 1907 in Gladbach (Mönchengladbach, Germany), the son of Pieter Persoon and Anna Giesen. After the family fell apart he was placed as a foster child in Waalwijk: the register records his arrival there on 28 October 1913, coming from Spaarndam. Thus, at the age of six, he ended up in the Langstraat — the same region as the Klerks family, where his sister Dina would later marry Jan Klerks. Leo became a nurse (psychiatric nurse) and worked in Noordwijkerhout. On 29 November 1934 he married Anna Lamberdina van Loon in Waalwijk. He died on 12 January 1957 in Haarlem and was buried in Noordwijkerhout. Some of his children emigrated to America — among them Anneke and Hubert, who ended up in Palatine (Illinois). It was to them that his cousin Leo Klerks wrote in 1986 and 1988 to share the family history; Leo Klerks kept a warm memory of his uncle.

Registered as a foster child in Waalwijk on 28 October 1913 (coming from Spaarndam; servants' register Waalwijk, SALHA, sheet 15) - probably the link between the Persoon and Klerks families. Became a nurse (psychiatric nurse) in Noordwijkerhout. Married on 29 November 1934 in Waalwijk to Anna Lamberdina van Loon (1907-2003). Died 12 January 1957 in Haarlem, buried 15 January 1957 in Noordwijkerhout. Some of his children (including Anneke and Hubert) emigrated to the USA (Palatine, Illinois).
