Pieter Leonardus Jacobus Persoon
Pieter Leonardus Jacobus Persoon was born on 9 February 1878 in Haarlem. He married Anna Maria Giesen, who came from Dülken (Germany); their children were born partly in Germany and partly in the Netherlands. He earned his living as a stoker on a steam trawler. In 1912–1913 the family lived in Spaarndam, in poverty and with severe neglect of the children. After an eviction in June 1913, the six children were placed in foster families by the Guardianship Board. Pieter and his wife left for Germany in August 1913 without leaving an address, and on 29 September 1913 the Haarlem court stripped them both of parental authority. Pieter died on 30 July 1951 and was buried, like Anna, at the Noorderbegraafplaats in Amsterdam.

Notes
Buried at the Noorderbegraafplaats in Amsterdam. In 1929 he lived as a labourer in Amsterdam and was personally present at, and consented to, the marriage of his son Josef (marriage certificate Amsterdam, 3 July 1929).
