Lambert Clerckx

Lambert Clerckx was born around 1620, a son of Goossen Clerkx — the earliest known ancestor of the family. In the deeds he is called 'Lambert Goossense Clerckx'. In 1644 he married Adriana Petersdochter. From the baptismal registers and from the 1707 estate division several children are known: a first Goosen (1645) who probably died young, Elisabeth ('Leske', 1647), a second Goosen (1649) — through whom the lineage continues — and further Arien, Jan and Willem; also a daughter who died before 1707, whose young son Lammert de Leeuw was among the heirs. Lambert's brother Jan (Johannes) remained childless; when he died, it was Lambert's children who divided his estate at Elshout in 1707. Lambert is thus the link between the forefather Goossen and the many generations of Klerks that followed.
